Application Process

1) The first step in the admissions process is to complete our online application. It is recommended that applications be filed early in the fall as the School may need to cease accepting them if the number received exceeds the number the School is able to process.

2) After the completed application is received, a representative from the School will call you to schedule three separate appointments, which we ask all parents to attend. The first is a school tour, which lasts approximately 1 hour. Tours are given in the morning, from late September through January (Spring tours are not offered).

3) The second appointment is a 30-minute personal interview with the Director of Admissions.

4) The third and final appointment is your son's interview: Beginners and Class I applicants visit Buckley in small groups for about an hour. During that time, parents of these boys will gather for an information session with the Headmaster and the Director of the Lower School. Older applicants spend part of a school day with a class of boys of comparable age and grade.

5) All applicants need to be tested by the Educational Records Bureau. We require both the oral aptitude and the achievement testing for candidates for Class III and above. For further information abut the testing procedures, please call the ERB at (212) 672-9800. Their address is 470 Park Ave South, Second Floor South Tower, New York NY 10016. It is the parents' responsibility to request that the test results be sent to Buckley.

To complete the application file, please request that written reports and records be sent to Buckley from your child's current school. All records are confidential.

Letters of recommendation are welcome but not required.

Please note that ALL 2014-2015 Beginners candidates must be 5 years of age by September 1, 2014, in order to be considered for admission.
