Serving as Head of School at Buckley has been my “dream” job for two decades and counting. Often, I am asked what makes Buckley special.
We pursue excellence in a warm, caring environment where boys are at a most impressionable age and full of curiosity and energy. Engaging in multiple subjects and myriad activities under the guidance of a devoted faculty, they gain knowledge, confidence, and new perspectives, all of which build a solid base from which to grow.
We believe in the long-term potential of our boys. As most of our students spend nine or ten years here, a Buckley education is about more than acquiring academic habits and skills. It is about becoming young men of character.
Every boy does everything.
By participating in all areas of school life, boys develop a strong foundation before they are asked to specialize at higher levels of education in secondary school and beyond. Our focus on the development of the whole boy imbues him with an appreciation of wide-ranging curricular and extracurricular pursuits.

We consider being part of a team essential preparation for leadership. Buckley boys learn how to strive for worthy goals and the critical role high standards, teamwork, accountability, and consideration for others plays in a healthy, fulfilling, and successful life.
Honor et veritas is not just our motto. It is a commitment we make to each boy. As the boys hear often from us, truth is at the core of all strong relationships. It is our expectation that they give their best and place respect, integrity, and compassion at the forefront of their decision-making and actions.
We continue to evolve. Along with the traditions Buckley proudly has cultivated since its founding over a century ago, its growth mindset ensures our boys are prepared for an ever-changing world of new opportunities and challenges.
I encourage you to read on and learn more about our beloved school and community.
Sincerely,
Greg O'Melia
