There is a grand tradition of excellence in athletics at Buckley, where every boy is active every day.

As part of our belief that boys should be full participants in the elementary education experience, athletics are a core part of our curriculum. We teach fundamental athletic skills and field competitive teams, but our focus is building young men who value physical fitness and healthy living and serve as model teammates and sportsmen.

At Buckley, every boy from Class I to Academy Year is required to participate in the physical education program. In Classes V and VI, boys can join teams and compete against other schools during a season in addition to their physical education curriculum. After Class VI, all boys join competitive teams each season and learn the critical roles of teamwork, sacrifice, and relying on one another.

Throughout their time at Buckley, boys are taught to focus on the process over the results.

Boys learn the importance of physical fitness from the earliest grades. We encourage them to improve their strength and conditioning through our Physical Fitness Index Program (PFI),  a comprehensive training system that measures progress across multiple disciplines. The result is they develop lifelong good habits and discipline, graduating from Buckley as comfortable athletes who often join teams in high school and college.

Buckley boys work hard; they win, learn when they fall short, and most importantly grow alongside one another.

We take the safety of our young athletes seriously and employ multiple trainers in the gyms and on the fields. We have partnered with leaders in the concussion management field and have every one of our boys baseline tested to help us monitor any future injuries.
