Welcome to The Buckley School

The Buckley School understands boys—how they learn, think, work, and relate to others. Warm and nurturing, Buckley’s dedicated faculty inspire their students from Beginners (kindergarten) through ninth grade to delve into a culturally rich and well-rounded education and to embark upon a lifelong pursuit of learning. At Buckley we understand that boys love to be challenged, and we take pride in our curriculum, designed to spark boys' curiosity, hone their critical thinking skills, and allow them to partake in everything our school has to offer. Buckley boys learn world languages, take center stage during performances, write for the literary magazine, sing in the Glee Club, become members of Science Olympiad, and play a variety of sports. Our focus is on both intellectual growth and social-emotional development, and we are committed to the exciting task of teaching to the “whole boy.”

Buckley's approach to education is anchored in active, hands-on learning and a responsive classroom model, inviting students to explore the city around them, collaborate, take risks, and have fun. The simple act of raising a hand in our classrooms could lead to a powerful discussion during morning meeting, could inspire the boys to draw a new conclusion in history class, or could prompt a chemistry teacher to design a novel experiment. Buckley provides endless opportunities for boys to thrive in the areas of academics, the arts, athletics, and extracurricular activities and asks only that boys learn, play, and create with heart.

Buckley's community is diverse and vibrant, emphasizing friendship, service, and citizenship. At Buckley relationships are paramount. Some days our headmaster can be found playing basketball with fourth graders or reading a story to Beginners, and our youngest learners are paired up with older “buddies” to foster healthy role-modeling, whether in the classroom, in the dining hall, or during assembly. We also seek to forge lasting partnerships with families to both strengthen longstanding traditions and expand Buckley's legacy. We welcome and encourage family participation in school events and initiatives.

We appreciate your interest in The Buckley School and look forward to getting to know you and your son. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

Kind regards,

Heidi Gore
