At Buckley, we are dedicated to fostering a community where every voice matters and where every individual feels seen, respected, and valued.

Faculty, students, and parents take active roles in instilling a sense of belonging among every community member. At the helm is the Administrative Community Council (ACC). Composed of administrators, faculty, and staff, the ACC meets throughout the school year to ensure the School's commitment both to teaching every boy how to become a young man of sterling character—a young man who respects others and puts his community before himself—and to preparing him for successful engagement in the ever-changing world beyond Buckley. Additionally, the ACC develops experiential programming for parents, such as the Parent Community Coffee series. All parents are invited to these informal gatherings held a few times during the year, at which they participate in dialogue and activities designed to forge and deepen connections between our families.

Along with faculty and staff representatives, parents serve as Community & Belonging representatives. As school ambassadors, they are responsible for facilitating communication and bringing family members’ questions, concerns, and ideas related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging to the attention of the ACC. They also may attend other pertinent meetings throughout the academic year.

For students, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity Alliance (IDEA) is an Upper School student-led committee that initiates student-centered conversations around identity and community. In collaboration with the ACC, IDEA brings in speakers to promote community, civic, and cultural engagement. IDEA also has a hand in planning the Student Community Breakfasts, a monthly space for Upper and Lower School boys to spotlight the diverse cultural traditions, experiences, and holidays celebrated within our community.

The Buckley School Equity Vision Statement

In pursuit of excellence and in commitment to our mission of educating the whole boy, we affirm equity as a core value of The Buckley School.

We recognize the fundamental dignity of each member of the Buckley community.

We foster a community that respects and values our different identities, perspectives, and voices.

We embrace the ongoing work of developing the knowledge, skills, and relationships needed to be an inclusive school.

We seek to inspire all members of our Buckley family to be empathetic, ethical, and engaged citizens of a diverse world.

And, together, we will prepare every boy to thrive in the future, as he pursues a life of excellence in leadership, scholarship, and service.
