Application Process for Beginners (Kindergarten)

The application for the 2023-2024 school year is now available. The deadline to submit an application is December 5, 2022. A completed file is due Friday, January 6, 2023. 

Once your application has been submitted, you will be able to self-schedule your parent or guardian tour, interview, and your son’s school visit. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Admissions Office

Parent or Guardian Tour  
Tours will be available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 8:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. Please allow one hour for your tour.

Parent or Guardian Interview
Meet with our Director of Admissions for an interview. Interviews are available in-person or Zoom for your convenience. 

Beginners (Kindergarten) School Visit
We look forward to meeting your son at Buckley. During his visit, he will enjoy a variety of activities with a small group of his peers. School visits will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 9:30 a.m. Only one adult needs to accompany your son on his visit to Buckley. Boys should be dressed comfortably for their visit.

ISAAGNY Confidential School Report
Please submit The Buckley School Transcript Release Form to your son’s current school. The school will send the requested ISAAGNY Confidential School Report directly to the Buckley Admissions Office.

The ISAAGNY Confidential School Report must be received no later than January 6, 2023 in order for your application to be complete.

Legacy/Sibling Applicants
Buckley is fortunate to have the strong support and loyalty of our families and alumni. If your son is a legacy or a sibling candidate, you may, in accordance with ISAAGNY policy, elect “Early Notification” on the application. We advise all legacy and sibling families to apply to a variety of schools. All Buckley applicants are evaluated according to the same grade-specific admissions criteria to ensure an appropriate fit with our learning environment. 

Legacy and sibling candidates must complete the required steps listed above for the Beginners application. Please be sure to schedule your son's school visit at your earliest convenience.

Application Process for Classes I-VIII

Application Information
Applications for Classes I-VIII are reviewed based upon openings for the upcoming year. Submit an application to notify us of your interest. Once we have received your application, we will contact you to discuss the next steps.

Parent/Guardian Interview and School Visit
Once your application is complete, the Admissions Office will contact you to schedule your school visit and interview. 

For Class I: Arrange for your son’s current school to submit the ISAAGNY Confidential Report to

For Classes II-V: Submit the Buckley Transcript Release Form to your son’s current school and request that his homeroom teacher complete the ISAAGNY Confidential School Reference Form and submit to

For Classes VI-VIII: Submit the Buckley Transcript Release Form to your son’s current school and ask that his teachers complete the ISAAGNY English Evaluation, the ISAAGNY Mathematics Evaluation, and the ISAAGNY Confidential Evaluation and submit to

Testing (Required)
For Class I: The Buckley School does not require standardized testing.

For Classes II-IV: We require the ISEE Primary administered by ERB (Educational Records Bureau). 

For Classes V-VIII: We require the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam) administered by ERB (Educational Records Bureau).  
Application Deadline: Applications will be accepted based upon anticipated openings for the following year.

Visitor Policy

Please note that all visitors to Buckley are required to show proof of Covid vaccination or proof of a negative Covid test taken within the last 24 hours. An exception to this policy is that prospective Beginners (Kindergarten) students will not have to show proof of vaccination or a negative test. Masks are optional at Buckley.

As always, if a parent or student isn't feeling well on the day of their visit, they should contact the admissions office who will be more than happy to reschedule.
